Get ready for a thrilling ride as a beloved child star takes center stage in a remake of the iconic Tom Hanks film, The 'Burbs!
Former child star Keke Palmer, known for her roles in True Jackson, VP and The Sixth Sense, leads the cast in this dark comedy TV adaptation. She plays Samira, a new mom who reluctantly returns to her husband's childhood home, bringing their newborn along. But this seemingly peaceful neighborhood has a dark side, and long-buried secrets begin to resurface when a mysterious neighbor moves in.
The Peacock series, premiering on BINGE on February 8, promises an intriguing murder-mystery plot. Joining Palmer are Paula Pell and Julia Duffy as nosy neighbors, adding to the suspense. And get this - Haley Joel Osment, another former child star, also joins the cast, along with Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy and Ted, as an executive producer.
Palmer herself was hooked from the start, saying, "I had so many questions! The script kept me engaged and wanting more." She adds, "It's a funny yet real story with so many layers. It's about a Black woman in a new neighborhood, dealing with post-partum, and feeling gaslit when no one believes her suspicions."
While Palmer brings a fresh perspective to the eight-episode series, movie buffs will undoubtedly draw comparisons to the original 1989 film starring Tom Hanks. In that cult classic, Hanks played Ray Peterson, a man who discovers a sinister truth about his mysterious new neighbors, the Klopeks, during his staycation in a suburban cul-de-sac.
The 'Burbs also featured an impressive cast, including Corey Feldman, Laura Dern's dad Bruce Dern, and the late Carrie Fisher, who played Hanks' wife.
